Week 9 MLS Picks

Following up our best week of the season with our worst was a buzzkill. All the way back to where we were two weeks ago! But we’re just a quarter of the way through the season, we press on. The official league injury report came out this afternoon so let’s peruse the menu for Week 9..

LA Galaxy vs. San Jose Earthquakes

Galaxy to win + O 2.5 total goals (+110)

The high-powered Galaxy offense is rolling and they’re big (-165) favorites to win at home against the Quakes. The last time these two teams met and didn’t score at least three goals between them was May of 2021, before Q2 Stadium had hosted an Austin FC match. We’ll pair the over with LA to win.

Orlando City SC

ML +150

The Lions have picked up seven of their eight points on the season in their last three matches. Now they travel north of the border to take on a CF Montreal side missing essentially their entire attacking threat. The trio of Matias Coccaro, Josef Martinez and Mahala Opoku are all sidelined. Meanwhile, Orlando City is the “healthiest” team in the league at the moment, with just Ramiro Enrique on the availability report. Montreal’s start has been solid, but it feels like this very talented Orlando team might be going on a bit of a run this month. Lions to win on the road.

New England Revolution

ML +180

Toronto is crashing back down from their hot start, losing four of their last five matches. They’re without six players due to injury already including Lorenzo Insigne, Richie Laryea and Brandon Servania. Federico Bernardeschi and Raoul Petretta are also listed questionable. The Revs aren’t the model of health this week either, but with guys like Carles Gil, Tomas Chancalay and Giacomo Vrioni ready to go, there’s just a talent gap between these two clubs. New England to take three points in Toronto.

Sporting KC

ML -110

One of the many rivalry matchups this weekend, we’re going with Sporting KC to get the job done at home. St. Louis City SC will be without Löwen and Adeniran once again this week on the road against their rivals in SKC. Sporting’s offense hasn’t found any consistency yet this season, but they’ve absorbed a few early injuries and look to be on the mend. This is going to be a high intensity match and a fun watch.
