Week 6 MLS Picks
If you listened to our midweek episode, you’ll know we weren’t able to avoid our first losing streak of the season. It’s still early, so we ride with heads held high into the sixth week of the MLS regular season. The official league injury report came out this afternoon so let’s dive in.
LAFC
ML +120
After securing their second win of the season with a 5-0 thrashing of Nashville SC last weekend, LAFC now travel to Colorado to take on the new look Rapids. While Colorado may be an improved side compared to last year, we’re still excited about getting Bouanga and Co. at plus money against a Rapids team that hasn’t exactly been flying out of the gates.
Orlando City
ML +145
As we talked about on Wednesday’s episode, we have a lot of respect for this New York Red Bulls team in 2024. But we have a bit more for Orlando, who we’re not ready to give up on as a contender in the Eastern Conference and getting them for this price at home is too much to pass up. Emil Forsberg is also questionable with a hamstring injury. We’ll lock in the Lions.
FC Cincinnati
ML +235
Last year’s Supporter’s Shield winners are atop the table once again through five weeks. Charlotte FC is expected to see the debut of once-rumored Austin FC transfer target Liel Abada, but they’re still not really in the same tier quality-wise with this Cincy squad. Nice value here on the visitors
Austin FC
ML +160
Austin appears to have caught a break in the form of Jesús Ferreira’s hamstring. FC Dallas will also be without Asier Illarramendi along with the three long-term knee injuries to Paxton Pomykal, Alan Velasco and Geovane Jesus. Niether team has been in form coming into this one, but we’re riding high on the hopium again. Give us Austin FC to win.
Atlanta United
ML -135
We’re waiting on the Atlanta injury report to drop on Saturday, but assuming they’re returning Thiago Almada and Giorgos Giakoumakis from international duty they should be heavier favorites in this one.
