Week 28 MLS Picks
The MLS regular season restart proved profitable on the back of road wins from both Austin FC and FC Dallas along with some big returns on goals from Osman Bukari and Amahl Pellegrino. We’ll look to keep improving on the positive start to the home stretch of the season. The official league injury report came out Friday afternoon, let’s jump into the Week 28 picks.
Charlotte FC
ML -115
We’ll start this week off just like the last. Even though they only managed a draw against Red Bulls last week, we’re going back to Charlotte, who once again have a clean injury report headed into Saturday. They’ll host Atlanta United, who are also just about as healthy as they’ve been this season but are without a number of key players that were sold in the transfer window. Even though they’ve brought in a couple high level replacements, we’ll ride with the team that’s right in the thick of the race for a top four spot in the Eastern Conference.
Portland Timbers
ML +125
The Timbers have a rivalry match up on tap against Seattle Sounders on Saturday night. It’s far from the easiest opponent on the slate, but Portland has been explosive at home, recording 34 goals in just 13 games. With Evander fully fit, we’ll take the Timbers to earn three points at Providence Park.
FC Dallas
ML +125
Frisco did us well last week with a road win. This weekend they’re back home hosting Colorado Rapids. Alan Velasco didn’t make his return from his torn ACL, but he was available on the bench. This FC Dallas team, that has taken 10 of the last 12 available points, is going to have a much more dangerous look to them the rest of the way. Our rivals to win at home.
Austin FC
ML +145
No way are we jumping off the Verde train this week. Austin hosts Vancouver Whitecaps at home in a pivotal game for the Western Conference playoff race. ATX has been riding some good vibes this month and we think that continues at Q2 on Saturday.
